OUPAAC club meeting cancelled 24th July

Due to the difficulties in getting around Oxford (and the fact that Port Meadow is apparently completely underwater) at the moment I think it is safest to call off tomorrow's running club outing.

If you do go out running on your own PLEASE PLEASE take great care - stay away from river and canal paths which might be flooded and stick to routes which you know are well away from flood water.

Hope to see you all next week (July 31st) when hopefully the waters will have receded somewhat.

Silverstone 10k - results and photos

Despite windy conditions all the OUPAAC runners had a good outing. Liz finished in 51:11 (own watch) a new PB. Graham and John finished in 52:17 and 1:00:51 respectively. Abby and Wendy both had good first outings at the 10k distance finishing in 54:14 and 57:34 respectively.

Thanks to everyone who ran and especially to Eddie and Alan for their Stirling [sic] work behind the wheel in ferrying the runners to and from the race.

Full results can be found here.

Silverstone 10k - 7.30pm Tuesday 8th May 2007

It's nearly time for our annual trip to Northamptonshire for the Silverstone 10k. Please contact Liz if you are planning to enter and/or if you need/can offer a lift.

We will meet at Jordan Hill at 5.30pm on the evening and set off around 5.45pm. Post-race we will be heading off to a local hostelry for a meal before driving back to Oxford.

The race is always good fun and the flat wide course is ideal if you want to try for a PB or just do a 10k that doesn't involve any hills.

Entries for affiliated runners are £4.50 in advance, £6.00 on the night. The final date for postal entries is Tuesday 1st May. You can download an entry form here.

TEDDY HALL RELAYS, 7th March

Well done to our 2 teams - it was excellent to see lots of people from the club out running! We had one ladies team and one mixed team. It was a fun event and lovely day (we all had the afternoon off work) so we'll probably do it next year! The only down side was that if you are on a later leg (3 or 4) then it is hard to be as motivated as the course really thins out and you don't have many people around you. Still a great finish on the Iffley Road track!
Individual times are really good! So well done everyone!!!
